About Me

Hello, and thanks for reading How the Cookies Crumble. I started this blog because I love food, love living a healthy lifestyle and love sharing all my favorite things with you!

I've recently discovered I have a gluten intolerence (you can read more about it here). Since this uncovering I have eliminated gluten from my diet and have noticed incredible changes to my health. Please follow along as I continue my gluten-free journey and recipes with you.

I love real food. The fresher, more natural, and purest state of the food, the better. I like the kinds of food that come from the garden and you can tell just by looking at it where it came from. As for other foods I eat, I try to select foods that I can at least pronounce the ingredients on the label. I believe in buying organic, locally grown (hard to do in a desert), and all natural foods. I am not a vegetarian, but I often eat vegetarian meals. I try to limit my meats to those that are raised free ranged, cruelty free and feed natural diets. It does cost slightly more to live this lifestyle, however, I can't think of a better thing to invest in than my body!

I believe food to be one of the greatest pleasures in life along with wine and... a few others things. :-) I definitely over indulge at times, but I try to balance those occasions out with healthier foods and exercise. I love Pilates and yoga. I have also developed a love for running over the past two years and ran my first half marathon April 3rd, 2010. I also ran the Canyonland Half Marathon on March 19, 2011 and the Havasu Half on April 9, 2011.

I currently live in Las Vegas and work for an event planning company. My job keeps me very busy and I travel quite frequently. Finding a balance in personal life, food choices, and exercise while on the go is always a challenge. Moderation is key in learning to juggle all the variables in life. I named this blog How the Cookies Crumble because it was a saying my mother would often say to me growing up when things which were out of my control would happen. There are many aspects of life that we have no control over and you just got to make best with what you have and keep moving forward. There are no perfect ways to live life, each life crumble's differently, you just have to pick up the crumbs and find what works best for you!
