SFO --> DEN

I'm at the airport waiting for my flight to Denver for part II of my work trip. This has been a quick week in San Fran. Lots of work, a good amount of shopping, a little bit of partying, and even less sleep.

My client provided us with meals this week so my lunches were of the badly catered sort. It's hard to turn down free food when you can pocket your per diem but my meals were nothing to write about. The selections looked something like this: salad, roast beef, and mashed potatoes.

Asian food day included oriental salad, beef skewer, chicken, veggie lo-mein, and egg rolls.

I tried to load up on salad everyday since it was the only fresh veggies they had and the most appetizing. I prefer a soup, salad, and sandwich type spread to entree style lunches but - free food is free food!

I actually saved a good amount of my per diem this week by not eating out. Most nights I got take out to eat at the hotel. Green curry with chicken, basil, bambo shoots, and green beans.

I go out for sushi and sake last night but it was happy hour! Talk about saving $!!!

For lunch today I decided to pass on the convention centers culinary delights and check out a sandwich place I'd heard awesome things about. I headed to The Sentinle on New Montgomery and Stevenson St. I got a roast beef sandwich with horseradish cream cheese. No pics, I was too hungry. :-) Pretty fabulous tho! I also followed it up with the perfect San Francisco treat - Kara's Cupcakes. My client brought me this chocolate cupcake with caramel filling and topped with sea salt. Deliciously divine!

While I'm waiting for my flight I had this roasted veggie sandwich. Pretty good for airport food. Roasted eggplant, zucchini, summer squash and onion topped with warm feta. Yummy!

I'm off for now! Bye bye San Fran!

Coldest Winter...

I created this post *FOUR* times yesterday and both times BlogPress deleted it!!! Grrr!!

Mark Twain was right when he said the coldest winter he ever spent was a summer in San Francisco. It's freezing here! Brrrr!

I'm in SF for work till Wednesday and then I fly straight to Denver for another 9 days. This is a long work trip. I haven't photgraphed most my food but here's a glimps of what I've been eating.

Lunch the other day was this Yikyak salad from Buckhorn. Lettuce, jicima, red pepper, green onion, snow peas and thin sliced roasted tri-tip with a honey-lime dressing.

I grabbed this open-faced sandwich for dinner the other night. It had had hummus, cucumber, sprouts, and avocado with a field green salad. This was awesome.

I also had Thai for dinner one night. I had a eggplant salad which had ground chicken, shrimp, eggplant, onion, tomatoes, cilantro and fresh lime juice. Love Thai salads! They're always so fresh! I also couldn't resist some fresh rolls.

I'm off for now! Be back soon!

Stay-cation!

Hello! I realize I've been MIA this week but I've been having an amazing time on my stay-cation.

I've had some amazing eats such as Bobby Flay's MESA Grill and Bradley Ogden.

As well as some not so great eats like cheesy bacon jalapeno fries - in a bikini by the pool none-the-less...

But it's all part of life. You eat, drink, indulge and balance it out when you return to reality, right?

Anyone know where reality is? Because I need to find my way back really soon. :-)

Feed Me Seymour!

It's been another busy two days! Today I worked a whole 12 hours and had to be at work at 6:30am! Luckily I only have one more day of this and then I'm on vacation for a whole week. Yay! Along with the long hours I have to work at conventions comes a few perks. This show I'm working happened to include a private concert with 80's rock legend Foreign at Mandalay Beach along with a wide spread of food and open bar.

So all day long I was looking forward to a fun night out, came home, put on a cute sundress, was getting ready to go when - ugh, I didn't feel good. So I chugged some of my wanna-be Amazing Grass and laid down. Still didn't feel too good. I have felt like this before and narrowed it down to three things; A. I was just extremely hungry to the point where it had made my stomach upset and lose my appetite to eat, B. it was from those "signature scents" they spray in casinos, or C. I was getting the stomach flu. I was praying for not the stomach flu but the only thing I had a craving for was chicken noodle or miso soup which often is a sign of me getting sick. I had neither in the house. After scouring the kitchen cabinet I finally remembered my mom had frozen some homemade turkey broth when she was here in November. I used the broth and some rice noodles and made myself a little feel better soup.

Diagnosis: HUNGER! Now that I ate I feel 100% better. It's amazing that hunger can make you feel so horrible. I was kind of hungry all day, but there was nothing really of substance to eat so I guess I didn't end up taking in as many calories as I needed. Note to self: repack bag with healthy snacks.

Now for my EATS!

Tuesday morning I didn't really have a breakfast. I just had some coffee and snacked on some Pirate's Booty. Then around lunch time I was starving, of course. I snacked on a handful of these while I was waiting for my Jason's Deli to be delivered.

By the time my lunch got here I was starving and devoured it before even thinking about photos. My lunch was a whole wheat veggie wrap. It was quite tasty. I also had a cup of French onion soup. My sandwich also came with a side of steamed veggies - carrots, broccoli, and cauliflower but I just picked at them.

After work I was having a huge sushi craving. I went to Whole Foods and was slightly disappointed in the evenings selection. I ended up going for a rainbow roll and spicy tuna. It was not as good as the last time I had sushi at Kaizen!

Breakfast this morning was a venti skinny latte and egg white, spinach and feta wrap from Starbucks.

I had that at 7:00am so you can imagine how hungry I was when I finally got lunch at 1;30pm. I missed the free lunch by 5 mins and the food court only had open a yucky burger place so I ended up back at Border Grill ordering my ceviche platter to go.

After work I was hungry but knew I was going to the reception so held off on eating. I thought I was being wise, but ultimately I ended up getting sick!

Wow! What a difference food made. I made this soup from the frozen turkey broth and rice noodles. It hit the spot and I feel so much better now! Clearly my body was just screaming FEED ME!!!

I'm off to bed now, another early tomorrow. :-)

Race for the Cure Recap

I finished the Race for the Cure 5k on Saturday am. This was definitely the largest race I have run. Over 10,000 people. It was kind of a pain in the butt for only a 3 mile race. I decided next time I get up for a race at 6:00 am it had better be longer than 3 miles. :-)

Friday nights pre-race fuel: Indian from a box. It was yummy.

On the way there I had some wanna be Amazing Grass. I also brought along this very brown banana but I didn't end up eating it.

Before

After

I had a yogurt and 2 of these sliders.

When I got home I snacked on 2 of these artichokes and a veggie burger.

And a little later I had some cottage cheese with cumin.

In the afternoon I went out to Red Rock to go camping with my sister. I snacked on this Pirate's Booty on my drive.

Upon my arrival my sister had this beautiful spread on the table. Two Buck Chuck and guacamole! Clearly the guacamole obsession runs in the family. :-)

Later that night we built a big fire and reheated fajitas in tinfoil over the coals. It was too dark for pictures but it was yummy. I had a fun time camping out even though I had to be back in the city and at work 8:00 am Sunday. Boo work! While at work I snacked on this.

I forgot to take pictures yesterday. Lunch was a prosciutto and fresh mozzarella sandwich with a side caesar salad. Dinner was leftover Indian from Friday night. I also made some kale chips and I think I ate a few too many because my belly hurt!

Back at work this morning they had a nice setup for us. I was super excited that they included a sugar-free syrup for our coffee.

It's going to be hard to resist temptations this week because look at our afternoon spread.

I had about 1/3 of a cookie and a bite of a brownie. I couldn't resist. I also brought the remaining Pirate Booty from my camping trip in so I snacked on that too. No popcorn though. I need to try and avoid the snacks this week!

Lunch I had ceviche. Love this stuff! I also had some chips and salsa.

This was so yummy!!!!

After work I went for a 3 mile run. Then I came home and had some more leftovers. I had an artichoke and leftover pot roast.

I'm off to bed now! I have another long day tomorrow!
